Teen singer Reid Wilson brought Howie Mandel to tears and earned a golden buzzer with his moving performance on America’s Got Talent.

Howie Mandel hit his Golden Buzzer for teenage singer Reid Wilson and brought him to tears on Tuesday’s two-hour episode of auditions on America’s Got Talent on NBC.

Reid, 14, from Alabama, belted out Lesley Gore’s hit song ‘You Don’t Own Me.’

Immediately after he started, both the judges and the audience were blown away by his voice, and when he finished, they gave him a standing ovation.

‘Well, Reid, we weren’t expecting that,’ Simon Cowell, 64, said.

‘I think you are absolutely incredible,’ Heidi Klum, 50, said.

Reid said he was inspired by Aretha Franklin and Howie, 68, told him that he was surprised by his voice.

‘I was bowled over because I was surprised,’ Howie said. ‘I got surprised. First of all, you’re just a 14-year-old kid from Alabama. So I would imagine, I put myself in your position. You were very nervous, and you did come off incredibly nervous. That was a surprise. You know what? That stage is where dreams come true. Do you believe in dreams?’

‘I do, yes,’ Reid said.

‘Well, one of them is about to come true!’ Howie said.

Howie got up and hit his Golden Buzzer, and Reid started crying as the golden confetti fell down around him. His mother rushed to the stage to hug him. Howie told him he was a big talent and Reid asked if he could hug him and Howie obliged.

Full Steel Combat from Texas opened the show. Two of the members dressed in full knights’ outfits hit each other with axes, but the audience quickly booed them. Simon and Howie both hit their buzzers.

‘I genuinely have nothing to say,’ Simon said.

Next, Super Silva Jr., 32, a trapeze artist from Brazil, took the stage. He said his act was very dangerous and then climbed a rope to the top of the stage. He hung from a trapeze and then appeared to almost fall. He even walked upside down held only by his feet. The audience gave him a standing ovation.

‘Silva, this was so scary, so exciting,’ Sofia Vergara, 52, said. ‘There was not one second we were not enjoying or dreading. It was amazing.’

‘I loved it,’ Heidi said.

The judges gave him four yeses.

Alex Sampson, 20, a singer from Atikokan, Canada, performed an original song he wrote called ‘Pretty Baby.’ Simon snapped along as he sang.

‘Alex, that was beautiful,’ Sofia said. ‘I think it was a great audition.’

‘For me, this song could have been written in the ’50s or ’60s, which I thought was really smart, actually,’ Simon said. ‘It’s the kind of song you would hear in a Martin Scorsese movie, you know, in that era. It was very authentic. It was very different.’

All the judges voted him on.

Espiritu, a 51-member dance group from Los Angeles aged nine to 25, danced to Eve’s hit ‘Tambourine.’ The audience got up and danced with them.

‘As you can see, the crowd was in love with you guys,’ Heidi said.

‘I love, love, love the energy,’ Sofia said.

Howie wasn’t impressed.

‘I was a little bored,’ Howie said.

‘I thought it was brilliant,’ Simon said.

They got three yeses and moved on.

Ry, 33, a sound healer from Portland, Oregon, said he hoped to pluck any negativity from their auras. He played a flute and sat on a stage surrounded by candles and crystals.

‘The act is not AGT, sorry no,’ Sofia said.

Simon said the act relaxed him, and he gave him a yes.

‘I love you,’ Simon said, but the other judges gave him three no’s.

Kalina Moolina took the stage in a cow outfit and said she was the Dancing Cow.

‘You’re a dancing cow, good luck,’ Howie said.

Howie, Sofia, and Simon all buzzed her off. Sofia then reached over and pushed Simon’s buzzer.

‘I didn’t love it,’ Heidi said.

Simon gave her a yes, but all the other judges voted no.

‘What did you have for lunch today, Simon?’ Howie asked.

Missy Galore, with bright red and orange hair, took the stage next. She started to sing, but then all the judges except for Simon hit their buzzers.

‘I actually like that,’ Simon said.

Three of the judges voted against her, but Simon said he would have given her a yes.

Ada Flippa, 23, from Finland, ran across the stage with a hobby horse on a stick and then jumped across hurdles on the stage. She ended up knocking some down.

‘I’ve never seen a pretty girl like you doing this nonsense,’ Sofia said.

‘I think you’ve done something we’ve never seen before; however, I’m going to have to say no,’ Simon said.

The judges didn’t vote her on.

Praveen Prajapat, from India, took the stage and put multiple cups of water on his head and then a giant jar filled with water on top. Balancing the glasses on his head, he walked across the stage, danced, and even balanced on one foot. He later stood on top of two small glasses and walked with them on his feet, all while balancing multiple glasses filled with water on his head.

‘This is insane,’ Sofia said.

‘We’ve never seen anything like that before,’ Howie said. ‘This is so amazing.’

‘It was just beautiful to watch,’ Heidi said.

‘This was definitely one of the most amazing acts I’ve seen on AGT,’ Sofia said.

He got three yeses and moved on despite an unimpressed Simon voting no.

B. Thompson, 27, a saxophonist from Indianapolis, Indiana, played Tina Turner’s song ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It.’ The crowd cheered for him when he finished.

‘That was so sexy,’ Sofia said. ‘That was a beautiful audition. I loved it.’

‘I could have listened to it all day,’ Howie said.

The judges gave him four yeses.

Tyler Burke, a danger archery stunt performer from California, went next. He started by lighting a whip on fire. Heidi hid behind the desk. He then threw a ring in the air and tried to shoot an arrow through it, but missed. He used his whip to shoot an arrow and then caught it in his hand.

Howie said he would give him his third yes if he tossed the ring and was able to shoot his arrow through it, but he missed for a third time after Simon gave him a second chance and did not advance.

Helen, from Ethiopia, juggled things with her feet. She laid down and then started spinning items, including an entire table, with her feet. At one point, she balanced the table with one foot and spun hula hoops with her arms.

‘Brilliant,’ Simon said.

‘This was fun,’ Sofia said. ‘We were all super excited.’

‘We have not seen anything like this before,’ Heidi said.

Simon said he wanted to see her juggle a giant pizza next.

‘I think your career is about to take off,’ Howie said.

The judges gave her four yes votes.

The final act of the episode was Taro and his son Subasa from Japan. Taro took off his sweatsuit and stripped down to a speedo. He had his son spray him with oil and then put a giant balloon on his head and then somehow over his whole body. The balloon popped, and Terry brought out another.

‘What is happening?’ Sofia said.

Simon hit his buzzer as Taro searched backstage for another balloon after his replacement balloon also popped. He rushed to the stage and blew up the last balloon and somehow put the balloon over his whole body and then jumped on little ladders in the balloon with only his head poking out. The audience cheered for him when he finished.

‘It was funny, it was creative, it was unbelievable,’ Sofia said. ‘We had the best time watching you guys do whatever that was.’

‘Honestly, it was really, really entertaining,’ Heidi said.

Simon later asked them to take his X away.

‘I didn’t think the act was going to work,’ Simon said. ‘And then it was amazing. Yeah, I actually think this is a great act.’

The judges gave them four yes votes.

America’s Got Talent will return next Tuesday on NBC.
