The Golden State Warriors are beginning to get up to speed after winning their sixth consecutive game yesterday.
The Dubs latest victims were the resurgent Houston Rockets, who have won 7 out of their last 10 matches.
However, the young Rockets were no match for the highly experienced Warriors, as they won by a scoreline of 110-133.
In the closing minutes of the game, the Warriors added insult to injury by teasing Rockets’ youngster, Tari Eason.
The incident took over the media, garnering wide attention. But despite playing in the NBA since 2022, Steph Curry’s mother, Sonya, didn’t seem to know who Tari Eason was.
Eason’s mother, Teroya, didn’t take kindly to Sonya’s disrespect and lashed out at Steph via her X account. She wrote, “Hey girl! He’s my son.
A REALLY good kid. The most effective player in LSU history +holds SEC history. He don’t fear shooters, we a team sport D-up family! He’s built for glory. Don’t listen to me listen to the main reason you win rings. Tari “they better he’s playing” Eason. Xo.”
Tari Eason averaged 16.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.0 assists, playing 24.4 minutes per game in the 2021-22 season. Proceeding with that, Eason was selected in the first round of the 2022 NBA draft, making him the 17th all-time LSU player to attain the feat. However, after averaging 13.6 points in 2022-23 season, he has been ruled out for the rest of the persisting campaign due to a leg injury, appearing in only 22 games.
Many fans were taken aback by Steph, and Draymond’s decision to target Tari Eason. However, before their highly anticipated matchup, Eason taunted the Dubs following Houston’s 132-126 win over the OKC Thunder. Eason posted a story on his Instagram handle in which he could be heard shouting, “Warriors, come out to play.” He captioned the video, “I know they not liking this.”
It’s safe to suggest that both sets of players were fired up for this matchup, given that both the teams are engaged in a fierce battle for the last remaining play-in spot. The competitive spirit didn’t fade with the final buzzer; it carried on even after the game concluded.
The bad blood between Eason and the Warriors’ players didn’t just end after the final buzzer, as Klay Thompson called Eason’s antics “lame” in the post-match press conference. He said, “That’s pretty lame. Especially if you’re not even playing. It’s one thing if you’re playing and you’re out there competing and you can back it up, but if you’re just gonna be trolling from the sideline, bro … what are we doing? The times we talk mess, at least we’re out there competing.”
Klay even called Dillon Brooks a “bum” after hitting a clutch 3-pointer. Even the mild-mannered Stephen Curry got into the thick of things with Eason, who sat on the bench because of an injury. Curry taunted by gesturing with empty bottles towards the Rockets’ bench, insinuating that Houston had missed their opportunity to catch up with the Warriors.
However, Draymond Green loved the competitive energy that Tari Eason brought to the game. In a post-match interview, Green said, “I love it, I love it. Like I said on my podcast, Tari, if you’re going to say that, you got to play, though. You can’t come out and say that and not play. But I know what type of player
he is.” Eason averaged 9.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in the 22 games he played this season.
