Tiger Woods’ son Charlie, shot to fame after a pair of appearances in the PNC Championship. His older daughter Sam, however, has stayed out of the spotlight.
Until now . . . Charlie who turned 13 last month, has played with his father in the PNC Championship.
They finished runner-up in December, drawing enormous publicity because it was the first time Woods played since his car crash.
Sam Woods will be taking centre stage this week to introduce her father, Tiger Woods’ speech at his Wold Golf Hall of Fame induction.
Woods chose his daughter to introduce him for his induction. First time in years. . .
The 82-time PGA Tour winner was originally announced as one of the four inductees in the spring of 2020, with the ceremony expected to take place in 2021.
The COVID-19 pandemic pressed the pause button on the event which will now be taking place this week.
Woods, Susie Maxwell Berning and Tim Finchem will all receive their honours at the PGA Tour’s Global Home headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach just in time for the Players Championship.
Quite a feat According to a World Golf Hall of Fame press release, the 14-year-old Sam will be introducing her famous father. Sam is a year older than Charlie and was born only one day after Woods’ runner-up finish in the 2007 U.S.
Open. Later that summer, Woods claimed his 13th major at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. She will become the youngest speaker in WGHOF history when she introduces her 15-major winning father. Woods, 46, is entering the Hall earlier than some expected, especially considering he intends to play golf on the PGA Tour moving forward.
In 2016, the age minimum for qualification into the Hall of Fame was raised to 50 but later revised down to 45 just a few years later. Apart from the age and accomplishment regulations, two committees have to approve competitors and contributors.
The final committee must vote with 75% approval for a figure to be inducted. The ceremony will take place at the PGA Tour’s new headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. David Feherty will host. Other presenters will be Judy Rankin for inductee Susie Maxwell and Davis Love III for Tim Finchem. Marion Hollins will be recognized posthumously as the fourth member of the 2022 class.
