David Beckham expressed his love for the Galician treat percebes, but fans will be horrified by the cost via a recent Instagram update.
The 48-year-old owner of Inter Miami FC was eating at Botafumeiro, Barcelona’s best seafood restaurant, where the extremely kind manager also spoon-fed eels to him, according to Daily Mail.
David disclosed during his tour that on Tuesday night, he was enjoying a platter of percebes, which are regarded as the most costly shellfish in the world.
The price of rare seafood can reach £400 per pound, and a portion weighing between 15 and 20 pieces will cost customers almost £80.
Due to being so rare, percebes are quite expensive, and retrieving them can be extremely risky.
Percebes don’t look that tasty according to some people who have even likened them to dinosaur toes and dragon claws despite their high price.
David, who is reputedly worth approximately £350 million, admitted he loves indulging in them when in Spain, therefore the price was no barrier.
David, a Real Madrid FC player who resided in Spain, posted pictures of the dubious-looking food on social media.
David wrote, holding the percebes up to the camera to take a picture: “One of my favourite thing to eat when in season in Spain.”
He included a close-up photo and added, “Soooo good! Gracias.”
The manager, Juan Jesus Perez Alonso, uploaded a humorous video to his social media profile after his visit.
He was spotted putting spoonfuls of eels into David’s mouth and then using a serviette to wipe his chin.
