Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry really know how to do things in style, even if it’s about helping the community.
Back in 2019, Steph and his wife, Ayesha, started a new non-profit organization called Eat. Learn. Play.
When the Warriors all shifted to San Francisco, this was their way of holding on to Oakland and telling them that they won’t be forgotten.
And an extension to that, they have just recently refurbished their bus.
This contains a plethora of facilities that will cater to all kinds of needs for young kids in stressful communities.
The unveiling of this extraordinarily unique bus happened on September 8. From a basketball court, a moving library, entertainment center to the obvious food truck, the Bus is an all-in-one. Not only can up to 35 children occupy the bus, but they will also have three flat-screen TVs combined with a sound system worth dying for.
This vehicle, although painted with the loudest colors like Pink, Blue, Golden ish Yellow, with some fun designs on it, serves a very signficant purpose. It has been made to educate, feed, and provide a safe haven for the youth in Oakland.
“This idea came basically from me wanting to find a way to eradicate food deserts within the Oakland area,” explained Ayesha. “At first, the idea was around, ‘How can we find locations where people can come and pick up fresh produce and other things for their families?’ Logistically, especially with Covid, that idea started to seem far-fetched.”
However, the concept eventually came together after a lot of brainstorming between the Curry’s and their other partners. And Oakland is a better place for it.
The CEO and President of the Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce was delighted by the Eat. Learn. Play. Bus. Initiative. “They are rooted in Oakland, even though the team has moved,” said Cathy Adams. “And it’s heartening to see an NBA star and his successful wife in her own right use their platform for good.”
Besides all the financial investments, it is their time, thought, and effort that deserves applause. If this bus succeeds in fulfilling its goals, there is nothing more anybody could want
