The Repair Shop star Jay Blades will feature in a new Channel 4 documentary with Judi Dench as the pair showcase their special friendship.
Jay Blades is best known by many people for fronting the popular BBC show The Repair Shop, where actress Judi Dench once made a special appearance.
Now, the duo have teamed up for a one-off Channel 4 special.
Titled Dame Judi & Jay: The Odd Couple, the documentary will showcase their special friendship after they had a chance meeting three years ago.
Despite being 40 years apart, the pair are keen to get to know more about one another’s backgrounds and upbringings.
Taking a trip down memory lane, Jay and Judi will uncover secrets from their pasts along with sharing funny and heart-warming stories. Together they will travel across the nation exploring both London and Stratford-upon-Avon.
During the special, the pair will introduce each other to special people in their lives and show places that have influenced who they are today. Flaunting London’s vast culture and diverse neighbourhoods, the pair head to some of London’s most memorable places.
The Channel 4 show will air on the broadcaster on August 18th from 9pm. A synopsis for the special reads: “This biographical travel show is an intimate portrait of true friendship, whilst also telling the story of class, race and social mobility in Britain through the years.”
Speaking about the upcoming special, Jay had nothing but praise for his friend and co-star.
He said: “To learn about a new friend’s past really solidifies the future of your friendship.
“Going down memory lane with someone dear to you is something I would urge everyone to do. This show has given me memories and a friendship I will cherish forever.”
Agreeing, Judi emphasised how much fun she had whilst filming the Channel 4 documentary.
The national treasure commented: “Sharing memories of our past, both so different, finding we have the same sense of humour. I could have gone on filming for days.”
It wasn’t long before people commented on Jay’s post with many excited to see the duo on-screen together soon.
