David Beckham ‘s 49th birthday celebrations were a low-key affair compared to his wife’s recent milestone birthday bash.
Victoria Beckham turned 50 in style last month, with the mum-of-four reuniting with all four of her Spice Girls bandmates at a swanky soiree in London
– with the likes of Hollywood star Tom Cruise partying up a storm at Oswald’s in London with Posh.
Just over a week on from Victoria’s lavish gathering, it was time for David to turn 49 on Thursday – with the retired Manchester United player flooded with birthday messages from fans and famous friends.
Doting wife Victoria took to her Instagram Stories to share a glimpse of how the Beckham clan marked their patriarch’s latest birthday
– with David’s celebrations drastically different to Victoria’s black-tie ‘do last week.
Aspiring chef Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest child of Victoria and David, donned his best tux for his mum’s 50th birthday party, but was nowhere to be seen at his dad’s dinner on Thursday night. “Happy birthday, you are our everything,” Victoria captioned a snap of David posing with sons Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper. The fashion designer added: “We miss and love u @brooklynpeltzbeckham.”
In the snaps shared by Victoria, David can be seen donning a casual grey sweater, with his sons both sporting crisp white t-shirts for the meal out in honour of their dad enjoying another trip around the sun. Dressed in a chic black number, Victoria cracked a smile for one snap with her family, captioning it: “Special day celebrating you!!! The best daddy and husband.”
The Netflix star went on to share throwback snaps of herself and her beloved husband with her millions of Instagram followers. “We were so cute !!!!” Victoria gushed as she captioned a picture of herself and David looking baby-faced and very 00s, taken at the start of their romance.
Victoria wasn’t the only one to wish David a happy birthday on social media on Thursday. Posh’s Spice Girls bandmates Mel C, Geri Halliwell, Mel B and Emma Bunton cheekily wished David well on his 49th birthday, hinting that he’s under their thumb while sharing a festive photo of him donning a Spiceworld Christmas jumper.
The official Spice Girls Instagram account posted a picture of Becks with his arms wide open, wearing the holiday-themed sweater. The queens of Girl Power also teased that David is nothing but a minion for them, claiming he’s been roped into managing their social media.
They uploaded the image to their Stories, captioning it: “Happy Birthday to our unofficial social media manager and one of the original Spice Boys,” complete with a wink and a love heart emoji. The post comes just days on from David capturing all five Spice Girls dancing together to their own tunes at Victoria’s 50th bash.
This came after Victoria had already shared a heartfelt tribute to her hubby, whom she’s been wed to since 1999. The fashion mogul recently celebrated her own milestone 50th birthday with a star-studded bash in London, graced by celebs like Tom Cruise and Eva Longoria.
In a loving tribute to her other half, Vicky penned: “Happy birthday David. I love us getting really old together! You aren’t far behind me! ! ! ! You are our everything! ! ! ! The best daddy and husband we all love u so so much xxxxx @davidbeckham @brooklynpeltzbeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #HarperSeven.” The pair are proud parents to four children – Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and Harper Seven, 12.
Not to be outdone by their mum, the Beckham siblings also took to social media with touching tributes to their dad. Brooklyn posted an adorable throwback snapshot of him as a toddler on his father’s shoulders on the football pitch, captioning it: “Happy birthday to the best dad in the world x love you so much dad.”
Another trip down memory lane came from Romeo who shared an old photograph and wrote: “Happy birthday dad thank you for everything love you always + forever.” Cruz kept things simple with a series of snaps on his Instagram story, accompanied by a brief “Happy Birthday” note. Harper Seven, still too young to have her own social media accounts, has yet to make her birthday wishes public.
Manchester United, David’s former team, didn’t forget their legend either, sharing several pictures on their official account with a birthday message that read: “Wishing a very happy birthday to @DavidBeckham,” followed by a number seven emoji and a birthday party face emoji.
