Tasha K has alleged that before marrying Ashanti, Nelly had been unfaithful in his previous relationship. And that he had an affair that resulted in a son that he’s been keeping out of the spotlight. The YouTuber claimed that Nelly had a fling with a life coach called Shanna Bianca a few years ago. 

Rumors Swirl

In 2020, Shanna allegedly became pregnant with Nelly’s son.  At this time, Nelly was still with his former partner, Shantel Jackson. According to some online outlets, Nelly first hooked up with his mystery baby mama in 2019. They allegedly went on to have a child named Chase. Other than that, very little is known about Nelly’s son or his mother. 

It could be that Nelly is doing everything in his power to keep his alleged affair from becoming widely known. 

Although his relationship with Shantel fizzled out some time later, there were never any accusations of cheating coming from his ex. According to both parties, they left things on pretty amicable terms. Shantel insisted that it had been her who had first made the decision to leave Nelly.  

However, a story about a son Nelly never publicly acknowledged is definitely something the rapper wouldn’t want to be out in the world. This has sparked other rumors about his real intentions with Ashanti. Some have suggested that he only agreed to finally marry the singer to try and deflect attention away from the rumors about his unfaithful past. 

Nelly Cover Up

Although this might sound like a crazy conspiracy theory to his fans, there is one wild coincidence here that first raised some eyebrows. And it’s to do with Tasha K. The Youtuber shared her allegations about Nelly and Shanna’s affair and child on the very same day that Nelly announced that he and Ashanti were now husband and wife. 

What’s suspicious about this is that Nelly seemed very happy to keep quiet about his marriage for a long time before Tasha K mentioned his name. Their wedding had been conducted in secret months earlier. According to Us Weekly, the couple got married in December last year. 

So if they were fine with keeping their marriage to themselves for so many months, what changed to make them want to share their news so publicly? For many fans, the answer was that Nelly was hiding something, and that his marriage to Ashanti was his protection. This theory has left many devastated fans feeling sorry for Ashanti, who has waited decades to finally settle down with Nelly. 

Ashanti Couldn’t Move On

Despite numerous rumors of other relationships, Ashanti’s relationship with Nelly is the only one the public knows the singer took seriously. They split up in 2013 after over ten years together on and off. After their break up, Nelly dated Shantel for years, but Ashanti never had another long term relationship. 

Many people were convinced she was still in love with Nelly, despite the fact that they weren’t seen together for years after that. Everything changed when they were reunited on Verzuz in 2023 for Fat Joe’s battle with Ja Rule. Many were delighted that they went on to get back together, including Ashanti herself. 

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ashanti opened up about the aftermath of their initial breakup in 2013. She said that she didn’t think they would ever have a conversation again after they split. But when Nelly proposed to her over a decade later, there was only one answer in her mind. Ashanti said that it was a beautiful, intimate moment when Nelly asked her to marry him. 

The fact that the rapper seemed to be in such a bad place in 2022 is why some fans have concluded that getting back together with Ashanti was a PR move on his part. But if the rumors about his secret child are true, it might just be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
