Selena Gomez Opens Up About Family Plans Following Justin Bieber’s Baby Announcement
Selena Gomez recently shared her thoughts on starting a family, following the news that her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, has welcomed his first child.
The 31-year-old singer and actress revealed in a candid interview that she once planned to adopt a child before turning 35 if she didn’t find the right partner. However, those plans have since changed as she now feels she has found her “other half.”
“I was single for about five years before dating Benny,” Selena said, referring to music producer Benny Blanco, whom she began dating in 2023. “I used to feel accustomed to being single.
Many people fear being alone because of loneliness, and I felt miserable for about two years. But eventually, I became comfortable with it. I had planned to adopt a child before I turned 35 if I didn’t meet the right person.”
Selena’s outlook changed after meeting Benny Blanco, 36, and the couple went public with their relationship last year. With her new love, Selena put her adoption plans on hold and embraced the joy of their relationship.
Benny has also expressed his excitement about starting a family with Selena, describing her as “the most interesting, sweet, kind person” and adding, “She is like my best friend. My next plan is to have children with Selena. I love being around kids, and I can’t wait to have my own with her.”
When asked about his intentions to propose, Benny remained coy but made it clear that it’s something he desires. “Every time I look at her, I say to myself, ‘Before I met you, I really didn’t know that life could be this wonderful.’”
Selena also shared her feelings about Benny, stating, “I enjoy every moment with him. I don’t know what the future holds for us, but I know he won’t disappear from my life anytime soon.”
Since going public with their relationship, Selena has been actively sharing glimpses of their life together on social media, often posting intimate moments with Benny.
She has expressed how happy she is and often refers to Benny as “the best thing that has ever happened” to her, adding that she “finally feels at peace.”
In her 2022 documentary *Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me,* Selena opened up about the challenges she faces with her mental health, including the impact of psychiatric medications on her ability to conceive.
The medications she takes have serious side effects that could harm a fetus, potentially leading to congenital defects and developmental delays.
“It’s a very serious and very real thing in my life. I have to accept that, but I hope that I will be able to have children, and I will try my best to make that wish come true,” she shared in the documentary.
Selena’s relationship with Benny Blanco is her first official one since her nearly eight-year-long on-and-off relationship with Justin Bieber, which ended in March 2018.
Bieber got engaged to model Hailey Baldwin just a few months later, in July 2018, and they were married by September of that year.
As Selena embarks on this new chapter with Benny, she remains hopeful about her future and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead, both personally and professionally.
