Sadness follows sadness: The golf community is dealt another blow because of Tiger Woods

The golf community hit with another blow as Tiger Woods does not appear on the players list of the RBC Heritage 2024.

Why No-Show Tiger Woods Is Disappointing Fans at 2024 RBC Heritage?

The fifth Signature event of the PGA Tour 2024 season, The RBC Tournament, is around the corner. That being said, the X (formerly Twitter) account,

PGA Tour Communications recently shared the list of players that will be competing at The Harbour Town Golf Links.

The event boasts a rather strong 69-player field, which includes 2024 Masters Champion Scottie Scheffler, and experienced players like Rory McIlroy, and Patrick Cantlay.

Even the young blood of the game who have been putting on an incredible show golf this season will also be teeing off, such as Ludvig Aberg, Will Zalatoris, and Akshay Bhatia.

However, there was no mention of Tiger Woods on the list, and that came as rather shocking news to the golf community!

Why does Mr. T not qualify for the RBC Heritage?

To qualify for the RBC Heritage, certain criteria must be met. One of them is being in the Top 50 of the FedEx Cup rankings based on the performance of the previous year. However, Tiger Woods does not appear on the list. In addition to that, pros who have bagged wins this season in other PGA Tour events also qualify for the signature event but Woods has once again failed to meet these criteria as he is yet to win any event in the 2024 season.

Taking players from the OWGR list, The RBC Heritage qualifies the season’s Top 30 golfers from the list. However, Woods could not meet that criteria as well, as he is currently sitting down at the 784th position there. To make matters worse, apart from not being able to qualify for the championship, Tiger Woods has also exhausted his self-designated event quota for the month. Mr. T had stated that he would limit himself to playing only one event per month in 2024.

Having played at the Masters last week, bagging the 60th position on the leaderboard, his event for this month has already been ticked off! And anyway, with his past interests, it looks like the RBC Heritage was never really on his list, given that the only tournament that he had played was in 1999. Beginning the year with the 82-PGA Tour winner’s withdrawal from the Genesis Invitational to his no-show at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, this year just keeps getting disappointing for the Woods fandom. Now the question is, when will he be seen on the greens in action again?

What is Tiger Woods aiming for next?

During the Masters Championship, Tiger Woods revealed that he had been in pain throughout and that every part of his body hurt. He was even seen using a pain reliever on his lower spine and torso, giving away how hard he was struggling. Despite all of it, he made it through the entire tournament, keeping his sportsman spirit ablaze. Even though he ended the event with a total of 16 over 304, which by far is his worst Masters performance in the 24 cuts he made at the Augusta National.

However, the visuals at the Masters left his fans worried about him. Nonetheless, everyone had one question in mind: after all of this, will Tiger Woods appear on the PGA Tour 2024 season events anymore? Well, it looks like Mr. T already has an answer prepared. He revealed that he has already shifted his complete focus to the PGA Championship, hinting at his participation. He said, “I need to keep lifting, keep the motor going, keep the body moving, keep getting stronger, and keep progressing to prepare myself for the next Major.”

He further revealed that his only game plan is to do his homework well before entering the greens of the Pinehurst and Troon at the Valhalla. Do you think it is a good idea for Tiger Woods to appear at another Major event this year? Let us know in the comments section below!
