Ronald Fenty, 68, said he was “ecstatic” at the news that his pop superstar daughter is expecting her first baby with rapper A$AP Rocky.

The pregnancy was revealed after the happy couple was pictured in New York City over the weekend debuting her baby bump.

Ronald said he believes that at 33 the singer is at just the right age to start a family of her own – and is hoping she will have a baby girl. 

Speaking from his home in Barbados, Ronald exclusively told The Sun: “I’m ecstatic. 

“To be honest I only found out yesterday but for the last five years, everybody was saying she was pregnant all the time.

“She called me and said she had some good news for me and I automatically knew what it was. 

“I think this is a good time, she doesn’t want to wait until she’s in her 40s.” 

He continued: “If you want to bake a good cake you’ve got to have fresh eggs. 

“Rihanna is very protective of her brothers, nephews and all kids, she will be a great mother. It will come naturally to her. 

“I already have two grandsons so I would like a granddaughter this time.

“Since the news was announced I’ve been bombarded by phone calls from friends and relatives, everyone is very happy.”

Prior to revealing the pregnancy, Rihanna had kept her baby bump under wraps by wearing baggy clothes when she was seen out and about.

In December, the Barbadian appeared to slap down growing rumors that she was expecting as she told a fan on Instagram: “Y’all breed me every year dammit.”

However Rihanna and A$AP had both publicly discussed their desire to become parents in the past. 

The pair were confirmed to be dating in November 2020 after she split from her boyfriend of three years Hassan Jameel in January of that year.  

They had been friends for years and he featured in her Fenty Skin campaign in July 2020, which saw them do interviews together to promote the collaboration. 

A$AP, 33, has described Rihanna as the “love of my life” and “the one.”

Ronald revealed that he saw Rihanna recently and has met the man who will become the father of his third grandchild. 

He said: “I saw Rihanna a few months back in LA and I’ll see her again in another few months before the baby is born. 

“I’ve met A$AP Rocky, he’s a very cool guy.”

Rihanna and her dad have had their ups and downs in recent times, with the hitmaker last year dropping a 2019 lawsuit against him just weeks before they were due to appear in court.    

She had claimed that Ronald used her name without permission to make money. 

The lawsuit read: “Although Mr Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna’s behalf.”

Asked about the lawsuit and the state of his relationship with his daughter, Ronald said that they are in a good place right now.
