Prince William and Princess Kate are on the lookout for a new Royal abode, but they’re steering clear of Meghan and Harry’s old haunt, Frogmore Cottage. The Princess of Wales reportedly has no interest in relocating to any residence that carries the design imprint of Meghan Markle.
The future King and his Queen consort might be considering a change of scenery because Prince Andrew, who’s digging his heels in at the Royal Lodge, might face eviction orders from King Charles, reports the Express.
A current theory among experts suggests Princess Kate would prefer the comforts of the Royal Lodge over Frogmore Cottage due to the ongoing tension with the Sussexes, who have settled in California.
GB News’s Anne Diamond discussed the Royal housing dilemma with ex-royal correspondent Michael Cole. They agreed that both Kate and William are unlikely to pick a former Sussex-designed property.
Anne Diamond mentioned: “It’s a huge place. But if it was redone by Meghan and Harry, I can’t imagine Kate wanting to move into a place that was designed and redone by Meghan and not William either.”
Diamond also touched upon the chilly relations between the brothers: “Because other stories around today are saying that William has made it very clear to his friends that when his time comes for his coronation, he will not be inviting Harry.”
The news emerges following reports that King Charles has removed the security detail from Prince Andrew’s Royal Lodge. A palace source disclosed to The Sun: “Everyone is speculating this means the Duke will have to leave the Royal Lodge, because what other reason could there be to take his security away? It isn’t a secret that the King wants him out.
Since 2004, Andrew has resided in the 30-room mansion, which became his home after the Queen Mother’s death in 2002.
He doesn’t own the property; however, his name appears on the lease with the Crown Estate acting as the “landlord”.
Despite these developments, the Duke of York remains on the guest list for the Balmoral estate, adhering to Royal summer tradition. His daughters, Princess Eugenie and Beatrice, along with their mother Sarah Ferguson, are also expected to join.
