Tiger Woods and Justin Timberlake are doubling down on T-Squared Social.
The golfer and musician have announced plans to open another premium sports bar in partnership with real-estate company Nexus Luxury Collection.
The A-listers, who are both shareholders of Nexus, opened the first T-Squared Social in N.Y.C. last September.
The second outpost will be located a little further afield in the seaside golfing mecca of St Andrews, Scotland.
Named in honor of the “Ts” in Timberlake and Tiger, the T-Squared Social is expected to be set within the historic New Picture House Cinema on North Street, just three minutes from the famous Old Course.
The triplex cinema, which was built nearly a century ago by a local businessman, will be treated to a full makeover but will retain one screen for theatrical releases.
The revamped space will be akin to a swanky cocktail lounge, with plush seating, high-top tables, and glossy photographs of Woods and Timberlake adorning the walls. There will also be customized golf bags inscribed with their names and coasters etched with their signatures. You can expect branded merch, too.
As with the inaugural Midtown Manhattan venue, the new location will offer craft cocktails, upscale takes on classic pub food, and a range of indoor sports. There will even be high-tech Full Swing golf simulators so you can practice your putting before heading to one of the seven courses in St Andrews, a.k.a. the Home of Golf.
Woods is no stranger to St. Andrews. In fact, the former world No. 1 visited the Scottish town to play at the 150th Open Championship in 2022. “I have been fortunate enough to enjoy many special moments here at St. Andrews,” Woods said in a statement. “We all wanted to bring our T-Squared Social concept to St. Andrews to add to the local community and be a welcoming place for those living in St. Andrews and for visitors alike.”
Timberlake, too, has teed off in St Andrews, famously competing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2019. “I’m honored to be able to invest in the town and bring our second T-Squared Social here,” the singer added. “Our new venue is so much more than a typical sports bar experience—it’s a place you can go to be entertained without sacrificing quality or comfort.”
It seems not everyone is ready to welcome T-Squared, though. Residents have complained that the plans to convert the 1930s cinema into a modern sports bar are “disrespectful” and “out of keeping,” as reported by The Times. The plans still need to be approved by Fife Council, as well. Stay tuned.
