Eamonn Holmes caused confusion when he randomly mentioned ‘Ruth’ in the comment section of his new Instagram photo.

The TV presenter, who shocked the showbiz world when news of his split from Ruth Langsford was announced, shared a new selfie with his 801,000 followers.

The 64-year-old gave the camera a mild pout as he lifted one eyebrow for the picture, which was taken in his car.

In the comments, Eamonn left a seemingly misplaced reply saying, “Thank u for saying so Ruth,” along with some sad emojis and thumbs up emojis.

One fan proposed, and Eamonn replied, “Now that cheered me up Liz.” Others joined in jokingly, vying for Eamonn’s attention in the comments.

It comes after it was reported that Ruth Langsford is open to meeting somebody new following her split from Eamonn.

Through their spokesperson back in May, the couple confirmed they had called it quits after 14 years of marriage in a statement nobody saw coming.

The broadcaster has also reportedly been spending time with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 42, who is said to have visited his place numerous times.

Following this, a source said that friends of Ruth “have been rallying around” her “and telling her to meet someone new”. They added to Best Magazine: “Ruth has been completely shocked by it all. She doesn’t feel ready, if truth be told, but she has been left reeling after seeing Eamonn get close to a new woman.

“She never thought in a million years there would be talk of either of them moving on after just publicly announcing their split, but her friends have said that if Eamonn is moving on with someone new, then there’s no reason why she shouldn’t as well.”

The former This Morning presenters married back in 2010 at Elvetham Hall in Hampshire and later welcomed their only child together into the world, a son named Jack, now 22.
