While most people like myself are gushing over Stephen Curry’s daughter Riley, the other half have fallen in love with Steph’s mother Sonya Curry.

Steph Curry’s mom nearly broke Twitter when she was shown on TV multiple times during the Golden State Warriors win over the Houston Rockets. 

The hottest player in the NBA’s mother is former professional volleyball player Sonya Curry, 48. 

As Twitter followers lust over Stephen’s mom, the google searched began as people wanted to know everything from her age, her race, and ethnicity.

According to NBAFamily: Sonya Adams Curry (born May 30, 1966) is a former American volleyball player for Virginia Tech. She is the wife of former NBA player Dell Curry.

She is mother of NBA Most Valuable Player Award winner, Stephen Curry, a professional basketball player for the Golden State Warriors, and Seth Curry, a professional basketball player for the Erie Bayhawks of the NBA D-League.

Sonya Curry, a former American volleyball player for Virginia Tech, was born on May 30, 1966. She attended the Radford High School in Radford, Virginia. There, she was a standout basketball and volleyball player who won state championships. She then chose Virginia Tech to play volleyball. It was there that she met her future husband. Sonya is Caucasian, African-American Creole and Haitian ethnic background from both her parent’s side.

Sonya is married to Dell Curry, who is a retired American professional basketball player. Sonya and Dell met at Virginia Tech in the 1980s when she was playing team volleyball and leading in aces. The couple exchanged vows in 1988. After getting married, they moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. Sonya and Dell are the proud parents of three children, two sons and a daughter.

She gave birth to her first child, a son named Stephen Curry in 1988. Stephen plays for the Golden State Warriors, he was named the 2015 League MVP and led the warriors to the 2015 finals, and is considered the greatest shooter in NBA history. Their second child, a son was born in 1990 and he is named as Seth Curry. He is also the professional basketball player who is presently playing for Orlando Magic’s NBA Development Team, The Erie Bay Hawks. Their third child, a daughter was born in the year 1994 and she is named as Sydel Curry. Currently, she is playing the indoor college volleyball at the Elon University.

Apart from that, Sonya is now at the age of 49. She owns as well as operated her own Montessori School located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The school is for 150 students. She knows how to balance her professional and personal life. As she has maintained to keep her profile low, there is no more information found about her.

How does Stephen feel about all the attention his mother is receiving?

Sonya’s Montessori school the Christian Montessori School is in Lake Norman, North Carolina. As a youth, Steph, and his siblings all attended that school. The school was a family affair, in addition to his siblings and his mother being there, Steph said his aunt was a teacher and his grandmother was the cook. According to the school’s website, it was founded in 1995 by Dell and Sonya. She was featured extensively in a 2013 article in Montessori Life.
