According to Marca, Messi has asked President of Inter Miami Club, former football player David Beckham,
to buy another former star of Barcelona Club, besides Luis Suarez and Sergi Roberto for the 2024 season.

The latest player that the famous Argentine player wants to side with him is midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who plays for Sevilla Club. in La Liga (Spain)”, Marca newspaper said.
At Inter Miami, Messi is playing alongside two teammates from former FC Barcelona, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
In the near future, two more former teammates will also arrive: striker Luis Suarez (currently playing for Gremio Club in Brazil) from December and defender Sergi Roberto from June 2024.
Suarez and Messi are close friends who spent 6 seasons playing at Barcelona from 2014 to 2020. Sergi Roberto also has a long relationship with Messi at the Catalan team. This 31-year-old defender announced his departure from Barcelona after the 2023-2024 season when his contract expires.
“The 6th member who once played for Barcelona, midfielder Ivan Rakitic, may also join Inter Miami from the winter transfer window in early January 2024. A source from El Gol Digital newspaper (Spain) added, personally. Messi for the first time suggested to David Beckham that he should recruit the 35-year-old star of the Croatian team.
Rakitic is likely not to renew his contract with Sevilla due to disagreement over the proposed salary reduction (up to 85%). If negotiations proceed, Inter Miami will recruit Rakitic for free,” Marca newspaper shared.
Rakitic also played for Barcelona from 2014 to 2020. But had a bad relationship with Messi, due to the pressure both of them felt when playing for the team. However, after returning to Sevilla to play in September 2020, Rakitic recently confided: “Messi and Suarez were my teammates for 6 years at Barcelona and are very important people. I always respect them, even though They are not my best friends.”
It seems that Messi is on a mission to create an all-star team at Inter Miami for the 2024 season. After requesting the signings of Luis Suarez and Sergi Roberto, he now wants to add another former Barcelona player to the mix – Ivan Rakitic.
Rakitic, who currently plays for Sevilla in La Liga, could be joining Messi at Inter Miami as early as January 2024. The midfielder is reportedly not planning to renew his contract with Sevilla due to salary disputes, which could work in Inter Miami’s favor as they aim to secure his signature for free.
