Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham posted a photo with Neymar, jokingly welcoming him to the city for dinner as fans speculated a Lionel Messi-like move for the Brazilian.
Beckham posted the photo on Facebook, showing himself, Victoria and the Al Hilal forward posing in front of a floral backdrop.
The caption read: “Welcome to Miami, my friend, only for dinner” – with a laughing emoji while also paying respect to Brazil.
After Beckham shared the photo, fans were abuzz with speculation, with many focusing on the “only for dinner” remark.
Some fans expressed excitement and hope for big surprises, with comments ranging from anticipating Neymar’s potential move to Inter Miami or a reunion
with Messi to playful remarks about the duo’s activities during dinner.
Others urged Beckham to bring Neymar to the team, while some expressed admiration and love for the picture. The photo sparked discussions and theories among fans, with many believing there was more to the meeting than just dinner, hinting at a potential transfer that would once again re-unite their Argentine star with an ex-teammate.
Since joining Miami in 2023, the club has transferred in former teammates from Messi’s time with Barcelona from 2004 to 2021, including Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and former striking partner Luis Suarez. Messi and Neymar played together from 2013 to 2017, forming a powerful attacking trio with Suarez.
During that time frame, the pair were some of the most productive players in world football. Messi scored 158 goals and 66 assists in a more free role, compared to Neymar’s 105 goals and 59 assists, mainly coming from the left wing. They seemingly had a natural chemistry for understanding each other’s placement on the pitch, with both possessing the ability to draw the attention of several defenders.
Neymar signed for Al Hilal on a two-year deal last summer with $300 million guaranteed, possibly reaching $400 million due to incentives and deals. He’s played in just three Saudi Pro League matches after rupturing his left ACL, keeping him out of competition for the rest of the season.
Four months after the injury, Al Hilal fans criticized the Brazilian star during his rehabilitation period, even saying that he appeared to be overweight upon returning to training. In response to the comments, Neymar posted a video on Instagram saying: “I’ve put on beauty weight. But fat? No, I guess not. Suck it haters.”
Neymar’s contract with the Saudi club ends in the summer of 2025, with Messi’s deal ending that summer. According to several reports, Argentina’s World Cup star has expressed a desire to return to Newell’s Old Boys, the youth club he played for from 1995 to 2000 before leaving to join Barcelona.
