A fire destroyed the childhood home of Texas native and singing icon Beyonce Christmas morning.Â
Located in Houstonâs Third Ward neighborhood, the two-story house on Rosedale Street started to burn 2 a.m. Monday, according to TV station KTRK.
The brick house had been home to the âRing The Alarmâ songstress and her parents since her birth to the age of five.Â
âThis is where it all startedâ she lived there through 1986â the first five years of her life,â Keith Rosen, who runs Houston Historical Tours, told DailyMail.com.Â
The Knowles Family moved out of the home decades ago, and has had several owners since then, Rosen explained. The current residents â a couple and two young kids -escape dthe flames clad in their Christmas pajamas and uninjured.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation, fire officials stated. Most of the damage to the property was on the second story, which was engulfed by the fire when firefighters arrived.Â
âThey did a great job. Iâm going to say in less than 10 minutes, we had a really good grip on this fire,â Houston Fire Department Chief Justin Barnes told the local outlet.
Firefighters cut into the attic and eaves to make sure the fire was dead, reported Houstonâs Fox station.
Rosen, who has been running Beyonce tours to members of the BeyHive since 2017, the name of her fanbase, lamented the fire, adding itâs one of the two most popular stops on his tourist excursions.
âPeople who go on these tours are Beyonce devotees, fanatics. Going to see that home where she first lived is like going to Bethlehem â the birthplace of their leader,â he noted.Â
âThis is one of the two most popular stops on the tour, the other being the home on Parkwood, where the family lived after moving out of the Rosedale home. Almost 100% of people get out for me to take their photo, to take selfies.â
