The One Show returned to BBC One tonight with Alex Jones at the helm alongside a stand-in.
Alex Jones did not mention the departure of her colleague Jermaine Jenas during Thursday’s edition of The One Show.
It comes amid reports the former footballer was accused of “inappropriate behaviour” and has since been dropped from the lineup.
Alex returned to the BBC show alongside her co-presenter as she commented: “Hello, and welcome to Thursday’s The One Show on BBC One and iPlayer with Clara Amfo.”
The pair went on to congratulate students who received their GCSE results today, however, Jermaine’s exit was not addressed.
Viewers took to X and reacted, as one person commented: “They should at least mention there’s someone missing and won’t be seen again #TheOneShow.”
Another agreed: “#TheOneShow so they never addressed anything.”
A third wrote: “Not the one show pretending Jermaine Jenas doesn’t even exist #TheOneShow.”
“The elephant in the room won’t be addressed on cam. It’s like he never even presented on the show #theoneshow,” a fourth penned.
Another said: “They haven’t mentioned Jermaine Jenas but we’ve got this so swings and roundabouts #TheOneShow.”
A sixth penned: “Not addressing the elephant in the room then? #theoneshow.”
Jermaine has since released a statement after being sacked by the BBC.
The former England international recently saw his contract terminated by the broadcaster earlier this week, having previously been touted as a potential host for Match of the Day in the future.
Unsolicited communications with a female member of staff of The One Show over text sparked the investigation, but Jenas has now hit back at the allegations.
His spokesperson said: “Right now I can’t talk about it. I can tell you I’m not happy – there are two sides to every story – and I’m going to be speaking with my lawyers on the issue.”
