When Ayesha Curry announced to the world last week in her lifestyle magazine, Sweet July, that she and her husband,
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, were expecting their fourth child, she was stunned that it became worldwide news.
“It’s been overwhelming,” Curry said of the reaction, not only by the media but also friends and family.
“I actually didn’t think people would care that much, given it’s our fourth go-round. But also, that makes me feel really warm and fuzzy inside,
because it’s nice to know that people care and it feels really special that people feel so invested in this with us. So we’re elated and grateful for all of the well-wishes.”
Curry spoke to the Chronicle in a recent video interview at the historic Paris Theater in New York ahead of the world premiere of the Netflix romantic comedy “Irish Wish,” in which she co-stars with Lindsay Lohan.
The film will begin streaming on Netflix starting Friday, March 15.
Well, once upon a time, Toronto-born Ayesha Alexander left Charlotte, N.C., where she spent her teenage years (and met Steph Curry at a church youth group), and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Her credits included appearances on the Disney Channel series “Hannah Montana” and “Good Luck Charlie” before she reconnected with Steph.
Only later did she become a Food Network personality (“Ayesha’s Homemade”); a restaurateur with the opening of San Francisco’s International Smoke, in collaboration with chef Michael Mina; and partner with her husband in their charity Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, an Oakland-based nonprofit that aims to end childhood hunger, increase access to quality education and provide safe spaces for youth.
“Irish Wish,” in which Lohan plays a book editor who secretly wants to get married to her Irish-born dreamy client (Alexander Vlahos) and is granted that wish by a legendary witch, is Curry’s first significant film role. It was shot on location in Ireland in six weeks.
