Back in 2018 there was plenty of drama for Princess Kate in the build-up to Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry.
Meghan Markle’s “cruel” words about Princess Charlotte apparently reduced Princess Kate to tears and further cemented the rift between them that has continued to this day.
In spite of Meghan finding herself in a similar position to Kate when she married Prince Harry, as a non-aristocratic outsider joining the Firm, the two women struggled to build a friendship.
In the run-up to Meghan and Harry’s May 2018 wedding, tensions reached fever pitch, as it was reported at the time that the Duchess of Sussex made Kate cry in a row over bridesmaid’s dresses.
However it was later clarified that it was in fact Meghan who had been crying, and Harry also confirmed that Kate had sent flowers over to apologise.
In Tom Bower’s book ‘Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War between the Windsors’, Meghan allegedly compared Charlotte to her best friend Jessica Mulroney’s daughter, Ivy.
Mr Bower’s book quotes unnamed sources that said Meghan “compared Princess Charlotte unfavourably to her best friend Jessica Mulroney’s daughter”.
According to MailOnline, the book claims that Kate had been “tired” following the birth of her third child Prince Louis, who arrived in April just weeks before the wedding.
The now-Princess of Wales was reportedly “too fatigued” to argue with Meghan over whether or not her bridesmaids should wear tights, although royal protocol suggested they should.
After the wedding, tensions between Meghan and Kate escalated even further. Reports began to surface about Meghan making Kate cry during a heated argument regarding the bridesmaid dresses. The media was quick to jump on the story, portraying Kate as the victim of Meghan’s cruelty. However, it was later revealed that it was in fact Meghan who was upset, and Kate even went as far as sending her flowers to apologize for the misunderstanding.
