Former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri has opened up about her history with former Strictly Come Dancing pro Giovanni Pernice ahead of her stint on the hit dance show
Former Love Island star Tasha Ghouri has admitted her relationship with Giovanni Pernice is ‘ancient history.’
Tasha is taking part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing after a string of controversies surrounding some of the hit dance competition’s professional dancers including Giovanni and Graziano Di Prima.
However, she has revealed that she has no worries about her history with Giovanni and is looking forwards, not backwards.
Tasha – who is happily in a relationship with her Love Island co-star Andrew Le Page – said of the bullying allegations:
“I wasn’t there – I’m here for my own experience on the show, so I’m focusing on myself to just really enjoy it.”
Tasha was born deaf and was previously inspired by former Strictly winner Rose Ayling Ellis – who of course was partnered with Giovanni. She ended up meeting him when they exchanged messages on Instagram around six months before she took part in Love Island.
They dated for a short while but Tasha is reluctant to say much more about her time with Giovanni. She said: “I’ve met up with him a few times, but that was years ago. We are not in touch now, this is like ancient history. I’m so happy with Andrew, and he’s my future, so I don’t want to talk about the past.
“It’s not my place to comment on [the allegations against Giovanni]. I’m here for my own experiences. I’m here just for me.” Tasha also admitted that Rose helped her out by giving her some tips on taking part as a member of the deaf community.
She confirmed that Rose “reached out with some great advice,” and that she was “really appreciative.” She also confessed that the exchange with Rose gave her “a huge confidence boost,” and that “she totally gets where I might face challenges and shared some valuable tips.”
Tasha said that her Strictly call up came after she spent years manifesting the booking and that she even wrote several times on her notes app on her phone “I will be on Strictly Come Dancing in 2024 or 2025.”
She recalled that she “actually cried,” and “didn’t believe it at first” when she got the call from her management team to says she had been booked.
She added “I am very excited,” as said when she found out she was sitting on the sofa in the living room with Andrew and their dog Luna which made it the “perfect moment” as she was left “just so happy and speechless.” She said: “It is definitely something I’ve dreamed of, so to actually be doing it is mind-blowing. I feel like it’s not fully kicked in yet.”
