David Beckham has divided fans after sharing a comment about his daughter Harper growing up. 

The proud dad, 48, took to Instagram to share a black-and-white picture of himself with his 12-year-old daughter.

In the picture, the pair are all smiles as David is seen donning a tuxedo with bow tie, while Harper looks adorable in a dress. 

However, the football ace confused his followers with his caption as he penned: “My little girl is growing up, 

boys get ready @brooklynpeltzbeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham @victoriabeckham good job mama.”

Some fans asked what David meant by “boys get ready,” while others understood what he was trying to say and made light of it. 

One concerned fan asked: “What do you want boys to get ready to do??”

Another said: “You don’t say boys get ready. You say boys stay away.” A third added: “What a horrible thing to say, you should be ashamed of yourself.”

Not all of David’s followers took offence to his comment as one expressed: “He’s saying the brothers must get ready with boxing gloves to stand guard for the boyfriends to come!!!”

Somebody else said: “People who are asking, ‘get ready for what?’ Do you have supportive protective older siblings?” (sic)

While yet another jumped to his defence and wrote: “If only people had brains and knew what he was talking about.

“Kinda like how my girls had three older brothers to protect them and especially the youngest since there was a huge age gap with her.”

The dad-of-four previously joked about Harper dating in an interview, alluding to him being against it. He told The Sun in 2013: “She’s not going out. She’s going to be like Rapunzel – up in the tower.”

The father and daughter duo recently started a new hobby together as he shared a photo of himself and his little girl after the pair’s organic farming session.

The Beckhams live in a luxurious £12 million mansion in the rural heart of the Cotswolds, near Chipping Norton and the chic Soho Farmhouse Hotel – and David has begun to grow his own vegetables on-site.

The former footballer proudly told his almost 86 million Instagram followers: “And so the organic farming begins with my little helper!”

Showering the post with honey pot emojis, he revealed he was going for a “quick check on my bees”, before adding emojis for broccoli, carrots, tomatoes and garlic – giving fans the impression that he has very well-stocked gardens.
