Speaking at a charity gala in London, the former England midfielder revealed details of the time Sir Alex Ferguson cut his eyelid.
“In the game against Arsenal (in 2003), I made a few mistakes in the game and Sir Alex came into the dressing room,” David Beckham recalled.
“We were both having a conversation and he came up to me, kicked up a pile of clothes in the dressing room and then a boot flew straight into my face.”
Earlier this year, former teammate Paul Scholes revealed that Ryan Giggs and David Beckham were two players who often “argued” with Ferguson at Manchester United.
“Beckham and Giggs, they never sat still when the manager criticized them,” Scholes said.
Beckham also added that Sir Alex often talked to players about his footballing skills. “He used to tell us how good he was as a player.
Before important matches in the European arena, the coach often demonstrates penalties or direct free kicks himself,” the former Real star revealed.
The match Beckham mentioned was in the 5th round of the FA Cup in the 2002/03 season, when MU faced Arsenal. Beckham was sent off with only 7 minutes left and the “Red Devils” accepted defeat.
In his autobiography, Sir Alex said that Beckham wanted to fight with him at that time but the players stopped him.
Scholes also implicitly confirmed this. “Regardless of whether he was right or wrong, Beckham always enjoyed arguing with the coach. Beckham was always waiting to get back at Sir Alex,” the former England midfielder concluded.
