Mark Wahlberg once accused David Beckham of disrupting the tranquillity of their LA neighbourhood, as details of their rocky relationship come to light.
The pair have been at odds since Beckham’s high-profile move to LA Galaxy from Real Madrid.
In a recent legal battle, Beckham is taking Wahlberg to court alongside F45 founders Adam Gilchrist and Rob Deutsch.
DB Ventures Ltd alleges that Wahlberg “duped” the football legend into a partnership with F45.
Resulting in Beckham losing more than £8.5 million when his shares were held back until after their value had tanked.
Accusations the Mark Wahlberg Investment Group and his fellow defendants have slammed as unfounded.
Wahlberg and his co-defendants are pushing for the ‘fraudulent conduct’ lawsuit to be thrown out, insisting Beckham is dodging his own accountability. However, this isn’t the first clash between the two stars.
Both celebrities resided in the same exclusive Beverley Hills area, where Wahlberg lamented the loss of peace following Beckham’s arrival. “Man, the Beckhams. It used to be so quiet on my road,” Wahlberg complained to Daily Mail in 2009.
“Then David moves in with his family. Suddenly we’ve got paparazzi hanging out day and night. Now they’ll follow any car that drives down the road. I take strong exception to that kind of thing. When I take my kids to the park I don’t want strangers sticking their lenses into our faces.”
He remarked: “I’m not telling Beckham to take his family home. I’m just not sure why he came to America in the first place. Man, we don’t want your soccer. There’s no way Americans are going to buy the idea of 90 minutes of running around without much happening. Thanks for trying guys, but we’ll stick to baseball and basketball.”
Despite his controversial remarks, Wahlberg was keen to clarify that there was no bad blood between them, noting that Beckham ‘seems like a nice guy’. The two later found common ground, with Beckham becoming the global ambassador for F45 Training, a fitness company Wahlberg has a stake in, as of August 2021.
““I’ve been a fan of the F45 franchise and training model since being introduced by my friend, Mark Wahlberg,” Beckham expressed in a press release at the time. This was followed by an Instagram post a year later, showing Beckham and Wahlberg enjoying time together in Canada.
