Is there such a thing as being too affectionate with your kids? Some people think that David Beckham is guilty of it when it comes to his daughter, Harper.
The father-daughter duo were photographed recently at a soccer game having a cuddle. For many people, it seems like a sweet moment between a dad and his little girl.
But, as Harper quickly approaches her teen years, others believe that it’s too much. David Beckham has come under fire in the past for the way he openly shows affection to Harper,
David and Harper enjoyed a sunny afternoon soccer game.
Earlier this month, David brought Harper along to spend the day with him in Fort Lauderdale to see Inter Miami, the MLS team that he co-owns, play against St. Louis.
David looked dashing as always in a navy blue suit, with Harper in a pink T-shirt and jeans. The fashionista in training even had a cute little yellow purse.
It made for a sweet father/daughter moment.
Cameras caught David and Harper having a sweet moment with each other. Harper stood in front of her dad, with David’s arms wrapped around her waist. They smiled and talked, even stopping for a second to seemingly pose for a photo. It looked like they were having a great time together.
A lot of people had big feelings about the moment.
The Daily Mail reported on Harper and David’s sweet interaction, and although a lot of people seemed to be supportive of the affection between the two, others seemed to take issue with it. Many used 12-year-old Harper’s age as a reason that David needs to back off.
“I find that picture a bit cringe worthy,” one person wrote. “Yes put an arm on her shoulder but that’ pictures definitely OTT for me.”
“She’s 13 this year, time to let her be a bit older and stop clinging to her in public. Save the hugs for home,” someone else threw in.
“As sweet and innocent as it may be, it’s no longer appropriate anymore. Harper looks like a young woman now,” another person chimed in.
Someone else added “She’s getting a little too old for this now. Maybe an arm around her shoulder is more appropriate.”
David shared a photo from their day on social media.
David shared a picture commemorating their afternoon together in an Instagram post. “Didn’t get the 3 points we wanted but I have this little one by my side 🩷 #HarperSeven,” he captioned the sweet snap.
Responses on Instagram were much more positive, with people giving their selfie a lot of love.
