PGA star Tiger Woods spent his birthday spearing some gargantuan sea creatures.
The 42-year-old officially celebrated his birthday on Saturday. Woods posted to social media on New Year’s Day to show off his haul.
“Happy birthday to myself 🙂 Nothing like shooting a cobia and an amberjack,” Woods posted on his social media accounts.
Woods sported a wetsuit for two photographs in the posts. He held up the fish, which were more than half his size, by the gills. He also showed off his spear guns in the photos.
Several scratch marks are also visible above his left knee in the photos. Woods wrote a long blog post about his progress from back surgery days earlier.
It’s the latest instance of Woods posting online about his love for fishing.
In August he posted a photo of himself holding a large lobster while free diving in the Bahamas.
“Nothing like free diving with the kids for lobster at Albany,” he wrote on that social media post. Woods went on to place ninth in the Hero World Challenge on Dec. 30 in New Providence, Bahamas.
The 14-time major winner has a home in Jupiter, Fla., off the Atlantic coast.
In 2015, Woods wrote on his website that he didn’t watch the final round of The Open until the playoff, because he was spearfishing and snorkeling. Woods even helped design his TW ’15 shoe with his love for fishing in mind. The shoe featured a star-shaped traction, which looked like a starfish. Woods wrote about how much he enjoys bass fishing with his son in a Sept. 22 blog post.
Bass Pro Shops founder and CEO Johnny Morris spoke in April about Woods’ love for bass fishing. Morris and his son went on a fishing trip with Woods after delivering his Bass Tracker fishing boat.
“My boy and I were both very impressed by how down to earth and engaging Tiger was, and by how much he loved to fish,” Morris told Woods’ website.
Woods could be eyeing Torrey Pines for his next tournament. The Farmers Insurance Open is set for Jan. 25 to Jan. 28 in La Jolla, Calif.
