After the news of Tiger Woods splitting with Nike broke, golf fans and the brand created a buzz over the internet.
People are quite disappointed over the broken collaboration between the two entities but are also curious about what brand the golf legend will choose next.
When the same thing went down between Nike and Roger Federer back in 2018, he found a new sponsor in Uniqlo and then became a partner in a Swiss sneaker brand called On Running,
which is currently valued at $6 billion. So, fans online assumed that even Tiger Woods would join the Swiss tennis legend. However, those rumors have been quashed by the CEO of the brand himself.
A relationship of 27 years came to an end with the split between Tiger Woods and Nike.
Amid rumors of joining Roger Federer, the CEO of On Running, Marc Maurer, shared that it is not going to happen in an interview.
He shared, “We hope he finds a great new partner. It’s not going to be us.” Apparently the Swiss brand is not looking to collaborate with Tiger Woods anytime soon. Nike as a brand has always been synonymous with Woods since the first time he started playing as a professional player. And for that to come to an end, it is truly shocking for everyone who relates to the sport.
We are not sure how the fate of Woods would turn out. But after splitting with Nike, stars aligned perfectly for the tennis legend Roger Federer as he was able to strike gold with the shoe brand.
After cracking a $30 million a year deal with Uniqlo that ensured that he would get paid even after getting retired opened new gates for Federer, he was then introduced to the brand On through his wife Mirka. After getting to know more about the label, Roger Federer started wearing sneakers from them in his home country and even at different matches.
