Confirmed the surprising split on Instagram Live over the weekend after rumors swirled
About their current relationship status since it was recently discovered last week that the two had unfollowed each other on Instagram.
In a clip of a recording of a livestream shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Cardi B shared that she’s been “single for a minute now,” but was unsure of how to break the shocking news to fans.
“I don’t know if y’all have been getting clues from me from my Live, I mean… or from my Instagram Stories, where I put certain music,” the rapper said.
“When it comes to events and stuff, I don’t think it’s true, I don’t care to find out because I have been single for a minute now,” she said, seemingly referencing to cheating rumors regarding Offset.
“I have been afraid to… not afraid but I just don’t know how to tell the world. I feel like today has been like a sign. The last time I got on Live I kind of wanted to tell you but I didn’t know how to tell you, so I changed my mind.”
Recently, before making their split public, Cardi B said she wanted to start the new year “fresh” and “open,” admitting to being excited and “curious for a new life, for a new beginning.”
Cardi B also admitted to leaving recent “clues” that hinted towards the breakup on her social media.
“I don’t know if you guys have been getting clues from me, from my Lives, or from my Stories, when I put some certain music, or find my unfollowings,” she said in the video.
On Dec. 4, Cardi B shared a cryptic message on her Instagram Story about the idea of outgrowing relationships, which may have hinted at the troubled marriage, both People and Harpers Bazaar reported.
“You know when you just outgrow relationships,” she wrote. “I’m tired of protecting people’s feelings…I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST!”
Offset, also 31, gave eagled-eyed fans a hint of his own. On his Instagram Story, he posted a clip from the movie, “Scarface” that featured Al Pacino yelling, “Hey, [expletive] you, man! Who put this thing together? Me. Who do I trust? Me!”
The former couple celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary back on Sept. 20. They quietly tied the knot in 2017 in Atlanta and share daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus, 5, and son Wave Set Cephus, 2.
